"Purely Rooted Goods was established in 2018, born from a mother/
daughter duo’s desire to shift the general public focus from chemical to
non-toxic use of products for home and body. This includes everything
from laundry detergent and refresher sprays to skincare and hair care, to
health and wellness with teas and sore muscle relief.
Jenny Blick, the mother of the duo, has always been passionate about
creating her own natural products, and strived to stay away from store
bought items that contained a myriad of unknown chemicals. Initially,
Jenny’s creations were for family and friends, but all of that changed
following the birth of her granddaughter because of her specific
situation, as you will read below. Now, as needs arise from a multitude
of conversations and requests, they have been able to work alongside
customers to provide one on one attention to needs. Jenny says, “Being
able to help support and provide for our families is important, but our
main mission is to be able to help improve quality of life by helping people
remove toxins from their lives and passing on important information to
future generations.”
Taelor Cheffer, the daughter of the duo, had her daughter Adeline at 24
weeks gestation, at under 2lbs birth weight. After being in the hospital for
77 days, Adeline had developed a wound while in the hospital that would
not heal with any prescription, concoctions from specialists at the hospital,
or over-the-counter medication they tried, and so Jenny set out to create
a natural product to help. Taelor did not always believe in the power of
natural medicine, but when the salve began to heal Adeline’s wound
overnight, she was converted.
Seeing the wonders of her homemade salve, Jenny approached Taelor
with the idea of starting their own business. A secondary motivation was
Taelor’s desire to be home with her tiny baby, and together to create a
legacy business. Now, the pair helps others begin their journey to using
natural products. Taelor says, “We have done the search so that you
don’t have to and provide high quality alternatives to help you eliminate
chemical and toxic ingredients found in mainstream products. What
you choose to use could improve your health and quality of
life, one small change at a time!” Jenny added that she is proud of what they
have built together, “Countless hours of research have been done on ingredients and formulations to bring the best of our knowledge and experience, transforming
them into practical products that are easy and simple to use, and most importantly that are clean alternatives to products used in every area of life.”
Jenny and Taelor have both taken classes and have individually completed courses that include some certificate in skincare, hair care, and intermediate herbal courses that integrate a holistic approach to wellness, and foundations steps of formulating.
Being a family-run business means that the team has an incredible close-knit culture and can call upon family and friends when needed, to rely upon one another in times of need and growth. In addition to Jenny and Taelor, the team consists of Jenny’s husband BJ (William Blick), daughter Jade, and several close friends. The company does occasionally outsource to contractors during seasons of skyrocketing sales or custom orders, but Taelor tells us, “For the most part,
it is all run by our family. My mom and I work extremely well together, and we perfectly balance each other to provide strengths within the company that the other lacks. All of our shelves, displays and package delivery is handled by BJ. It truly is a dream to work with family and work well together at that.”
Purely Rooted Goods offers a wide variety of items, including skincare,
hair care, bath and body products, essential oil roller bottles, teas, and
much more. The company uses only high quality, pure ingredients that
are additionally organic whenever possible. We asked Taelor about the
product line, and she tells us, “We don’t follow trends; we choose products
specifically that our customers request time and time again, and research
the best ingredients possible before we come up with formulations.” Jenny
also added that, “Our product line seems to constantly be growing as we
learn new things, or are inspired by a specific need, and we absolutely
love what we do!!”
Most recently, Purely Rooted Goods has launched its Summer outdoor
product range, which includes scented and unscented sunscreens, after
sun spray, and a bug repellent. All products in this line are made with
nourishing botanical ingredients specifically selected to protect your skin
in the summer months.
The company has a broad range of shampoo bars and other products,
available in various scents such as vanilla orchid, eucalyptus spearmint,
and pineapple sage. They do have a few permanent scents, but specialty
ones are added or changed each season. All bars are produced using
